Depart London Heathrow 13.00

Arrive St John’s 15.00

Journey Time 5 hours 35 minutes

(Please Note: Flight times are subject to change)

St. John’s, the provincial capital, is a combination of picturesque and colourful houses, pubs and restaurants. It's a melting pot of heritage and culture giving the city a lively personality. Here you can shop in modern malls, tiny boutiques, or old time fisherman's outfitting stores; wander the brightly lit docks, or eat seafood by the harbour.

Overnight - St. John's

Day 2
St. John's

Enjoy your day in St. John’s, capital of Newfoundland & Labrador. Take a hike to Signal Hill, visit Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America, and enjoy a Puffin and Whale Tour in Bay Bulls.

Overnight - St John's

Day 3 & 4
St. John's to Trinity / Port Rexton

The Bonavista Peninsula is one of the most historic and beautiful parts of the province. This is where John Cabot (Giovanni Caboto) landed in 1497 and claimed this ”New Founde Lande” for England. Whale cruises are available in the Trinity area.

Overnight - Trinity Bay

Day 5
Trinity to Twillingate

Terra Nova National Park features inlets and islands jutting into Bonavista Bay. Excellent walking trails and a boat tour provide chances to view the magnificent landscape. Follow the “Road to the Isles”, which takes you by a series of little causeways to remote Twillingate on Notre Dame Bay. This is one of the best areas for observing icebergs in early summer, and boat tours go out to the icebergs several times most days.

Overnight - Twillingate

Day 6
Twillingate

Located on the edge of what is known as Iceberg Alley, Twillingate is affectionately known as the Iceberg Capital of the world. Many of these 10,000 year old iceberg giants float by quietly each year and people travel great distances just to chance a glance. In the morning, enjoy an Iceberg & Whale Cruise. Plenty of walking trails are awaiting you in the area – you may find one to explore in the afternoon.

Overnight - Twillingate

Day 7
Twillingate to Gros Morne National Park

Outports are the landmark of Newfoundland. Explore them and the islands of Notre Dame Bay on your way to Springdale. En-route you can visit the “The Grand Falls Fishway and Salmonid Interpretation Center”. While at the salmon ladder be sure to catch a glimpse of the legendary Grand Falls.

You travel through the vast interior of Newfoundland, go past old company towns by the Trans-Canada Highway, through forests once inhabited by the now vanished Beothuk Indians. Moose are frequently seen by the roadside. You spend the night in a village surrounded by beautiful Gros Morne National Park.

Overnight - Gros Morne National Park

Day 8
Gros Morne National Park

Enjoy the mountain and fjord scenery of the majestic Gros Morne National Park, declared by UNESCO as a “World Heritage Site”. 22 walking and hiking trails are yours to discover. Giant fossils are also among the attractions of Gros Morne.

Included in your package is a boat trip on the inland fjord of Western Brook Pond. Please note that a short hike (about 2 km ) leads you to the dock.

Overnight - Gros Morne National Park

Day 9
Gros Morne to L'Anse-au-Clair

Follow the “Viking Trail” north along Newfoundland’s great Northern Peninsula. Port au Choix is where there is an archaeological site and exhibit centre exploring the cultures of four aboriginal peoples who once lived on this coast.

Labrador! One of the world’s last frontiers lies just across the Strait of Belle Isle. A 1½ hour ferry trip (included) from St Barbe brings you to Blanc Sablon, Quebec on the Labrador border. It is only a short drive to the scenic fishing outport of L’Anse-au-Clair in Labrador.

Overnight - L'Anse-au-Clair

Day 10
Southern Labrador

An 80 km paved road takes you along the southern coast. One of Canada‘s most impressive lighthouses is located in L’Anse Amour, as well as the earliest known funeral monument in America...9000 years old. Continue through small communities with aboriginal crafts and across clear-flowing salmon rivers to Red Bay. Red Bay is the site of the remains of a Basque whaling station from the 1500’s.

Introduction

Welcome to the land where the sun first rises over North America! Newfoundland and Labrador is a land of unique experiences – how about getting eye to eye with a 30-tonne humpback whale? Or watching as icebergs drift by on the horizon and the sky fills with seabirds that nest here in their millions. You can visit the first European settlement in North American, built by the Vikings five centuries before Columbus bumped into the Caribbean, and marvel at the outstanding beauty of Gros Morne National Park. You’ll travel through small ‘outports’ – that’s fishing villages to you and I – with names to capture the imagination. From Cupids and Heart’s Desire to Tickle Cove and Heart’s Content you’ll see why is so easy to fall in love with this land.

Newfoundland & Labrador is big - about the size of California – but with only half-million residents you won’t be bumping elbows with fellow explorers at every turn. This is a land to explore, with a rich and varied history, colourful coastal communities and natural wonders aplenty.
